ATLANTA, November 3, 2008 - Kate Maguire, president and founder of Motivation Mechanics, a three-year old, independent opinion polling and marketing research services company, announced the formation of a new, online division, Vision Research Center, Inc. (VRC), at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in Atlanta. “The use of online capabilities to gather data on a real-time basis from vision care experts, patients and caregivers in a secure, private setting opens exciting new ways to identify and understand the real issues surrounding new vision-care products and services,” said Maguire.
“We believe we bring a fresh approach to research, for instance, at the meeting VRC conducted a study for industry and learned that 82% of MDs said that new patients entering their practice is either increasing or staying the same, despite economic turmoil concerns.” A sister company, Pregnancy Research Center (PRC) has operated a similar data gathering panel for the past year, and has conducted over fifty online panel meetings. “Clients tell us that PRC has proven to be a particularly efficient and effective way to obtain insights, and physicians say that these sessions are a good way to learn about emerging issues from peers, as well as learning patient views about their problems and treatments,” said Maguire. VRC is dedicated to uncovering the trends, attitudes and opinions of thought leaders in eye health. With over 10 unique research methodologies, VRC provides actionable information that aids in making effective decisions. Christine A. Coleman, a senior category analyst at VRC, who helped introduce the company to the ophthalmic community during the week-long conference, stated: “We developed VRC as a specialty research site focused on gathering information on physician and patient perceptions of vision-related diseases, including their diagnosis and treatment. The new site was conceived to provide a platform for experts to share opinions about new technologies and therapies in an online community setting and to help accelerate the diffusion of new ideas into patient care. The combination of confidential panels, proprietary discussion techniques, our methodology, and our experience has enabled us to field and report our results quickly. We believe that we are uniquely able to help clients interpret the findings and translate them rapidly to insights that are actionable,” said Coleman.
